Omid Kassiri, the Managing Partner for McKinsey’s East Africa office, is a visionary leader whose impact resonates across the region.
With a profound dedication to livelihoods in agriculture, food, and climate, Omid’s work transcends traditional boundaries, focusing on sustainable practices and impactful solutions that drive positive change in the industry and society.
Omid’s journey with McKinsey began in 2004 in Johannesburg, and after a brief hiatus exploring leadership development and renewable energy, he rejoined the firm in 2014 in Nairobi. 
His role as the Managing Partner for East Africa and his leadership in public sector and agricultural practices across Africa exemplify his commitment to growth and development in the region.
Omid’s advisory work with public and private sector leaders emphasizes finding optimal solutions for implementation and achieving tangible results that benefit communities and industries alike.
Achievements
  1. Supporting a ministry of agriculture in developing agricultural strategy and national agriculture imagery programs
   – Collaborated with the ministry to create a comprehensive agricultural strategy and imagery program to support the sector.
  1. Developing and implementing Kenya’s industrialization road map
   – Led the development and execution of Kenya’s industrialization road map, including reform programs to reduce the difficulty of doing business and increase agro-processing investments.
  1. Transforming a major electrical utility and working with the ministry to unlock the sector’s potential
   – Directed the transformation of a major electrical utility in East Africa.
   – Collaborated with the ministry to identify and capitalize on opportunities in the energy sector.
  1. Directing the transformation of one of East Africa’s largest financial institutions
   – Led the transformation of a prominent financial institution in East Africa.
   – Focused on delivering financial services to underserved populations and developing plans for regional expansion.
  1. Investing in a farming venture in the DRC and developing a solar plant in South Africa
   – Co-founded a 5,500-hectare farm near Lumumbashi, DRC.
   – Co-developed a 75-megawatt solar park in South Africa.
