ORAFOL, a well-known manufacturer of specialty films, is taking steps toward sustainability by acquiring a stake in the Belgian company Group M.A.M.
This new partnership will enable ORAFOL to start producing climate protection films at its headquarters in Oranienburg, Germany, beginning in 2025.
The move aligns with ORAFOL’s broader goals to expand its product line and address the urgent challenges of climate change.
This acquisition allows ORAFOL to bring in advanced technology from Group M.A.M., which specializes in creating spectrally selective films.
These films help reduce heat on glass surfaces, making them useful in buildings and vehicles to lower energy use by reducing the need for air conditioning.
By choosing these films, customers can save on energy costs and reduce CO₂ emissions. ORAFOL plans to first offer solar protection films suitable for both indoor and outdoor use.
The films can be customized from barely visible options to darker tints, giving architects and builders flexibility to choose products that match their design needs while also improving energy efficiency.
Beyond buildings and vehicles, ORAFOL is also planning to expand its products to include films for greenhouses.
This expansion will help support sustainable agriculture by providing effective solar control, creating better growing conditions while using less energy.
A new production facility, Hall 10, is under construction at ORAFOL’s headquarters specifically for this initiative.
