Spiro, a leading Africa-focused electric mobility company, has reached a major milestone by deploying 95,000 electric motorcycles across its operational markets.

The company has also officially launched operations in Cameroon, bringing its total footprint to seven African countries, with an ongoing pilot programme in Tanzania.

This expansion highlights the accelerating adoption of electric mobility solutions across the continent, offering riders significantly lower operating costs, improved economics, and reduced emissions compared to traditional petrol-powered motorcycles.

Scale and Strategic Expansion

With over 95,000 electric motorcycles on the road and 2,500 battery-swapping stations deployed, Spiro has transitioned from a proof-of-concept stage to a scaled operation.

The entry into Cameroon strengthens the company’s presence in Central Africa and supports its long-term vision of building a comprehensive, continent-wide e-mobility ecosystem.

Kaushik Burman, CEO of Spiro, said:
“With more than 95,000 electric motorcycles on the road across Africa and 2,500 battery-swapping stations deployed, we are no longer demonstrating potential; we are demonstrating scale. Through continued expansion, innovation, and strategic partnerships, Spiro is helping build a cleaner, more accessible, and more inclusive mobility ecosystem for the continent.”

Advancing Gender Inclusion in Mobility

In parallel with its geographic expansion, Spiro has launched the Women in E-Mobility initiative in partnership with Entrepreneurial Solutions Partners (ESP).

Eric Kacou, Co-Founder and Managing Partner at ESP, noted:
“This partnership represents an opportunity to build a more inclusive mobility ecosystem by creating concrete economic opportunities for women in a rapidly growing sector.”

Looking Ahead

Spiro’s successful launch in Cameroon and the deployment of 95,000 electric motorcycles demonstrate the company’s strong execution and growing scale across Africa.

Combined with the new Women in E-Mobility initiative, these developments reinforce Spiro’s commitment to delivering sustainable, inclusive, and commercially viable mobility solutions.
